Tennis Camp

Intense Training and Fun Atmosphere

The BHCC Tennis Staff has carefully designed a program with the intent of making the young tennis player into a competitive athlete. Throughout the weekly summer program, campers will be led through a daily routine of stroke enhancement, footwork, conditioning, intense drills and fun games of all sorts, with the main focus being overall match play.

Court Rotation

Court Rotation is an efficient way of teaching and is utilized in our tennis program. Campers benefit from working under several instructors in order to maximize their potential for becoming young athletes. Campers spend approximately 30 to 40 minutes on each court with a maximum of 3 rotations. As a result, campers learn the correct technique of the basic strokes, learn to hit the ball while on the move and finally put the ball into strategic play.

Conditioning/Footwork/Nutrition/Video Analysis

Seeing is believing! Each camper is videotaped during drills and/or matches. As an effective way of correcting stroke errors and improving performance, the tape is then reviewed with a detailed analysis and explanation of what they could improve upon.

Part of every athlete’s daily routine for peak performance is conditioning. No exceptions here. The heart of the program is that we pride ourselves in making our young players outlast the competition. In order to do just that, we have made a special effort in making footwork and conditioning an important part of the day.

Campers will have the opportunity to use training tools like jump ropes, cones, hoops and balls to further enhance footwork. Conditioning such as running and weight training is available to those athletes who are interested in improving their strength and stamina. Nutrition classes are also incorporated to further advance the performance of each athlete.

TENNIS DRILLS, GAMES & MATCHES

After lunch is digested, campers will be out on the courtagain for more fun, intense drills and games. For the beginners and younger campers, an hour of running and hitting will make them so hot that the pool is the only place that they can be found at the end of the day. For the advanced players, the choices include playing matches or participating in a drill. When they have completed a match or the drill...it is time to swim!

Age Levels
Summer Tennis Camp is divided by age and by ability level.

The Beginner Level
Campers in this level have very little or no tennis experience. Ages vary from 6 to 9 years old. The focus is on the recreational and fun aspects of tennis.

The Advanced Level
Campers at this level have at least one-year experience of tennis instruction, (private or group), have the knowledge of how to score a match, and have experience in playing on the BHCC Junior Tennis leagues or similar programs elsewhere or tournament play. The main focus is an intense training program for competition. Ages vary
from 10 years old to teens.
